Meet the team

The Directors

Robert McNeil WilsonRobert McNeil Wilson, Rookery Farm (Chairman)

We joined Delta Farming Ltd in 2001 when our Contracting Farming Agreement came to an end.

Delta Farming offered us the opportunity to regain control and direction of the farming business.  A modest loan to Delta Farming based on the joining acres gave us access to up to date modern equipment and a skilled workforce.

As a result of joining Delta we were able to join the “Classic” Countryside Stewardship Scheme and rent land out to third parties using our irrigation facilities (to the environmental and economic benefit of the business), both of which had been resisted by our Contract Farming partners as it took land and income from their business.

We grow, sugar beet, winter and spring barley, winter wheat, winter oilseed rape, spring beans, daffodils and soil enhancing cover crops. We have land rented out on a rotational basis for potatoes, carrots and outdoor pigs.

Being a shareholder in Delta Farming has given us the management time to create a self-catering holiday cottage business, expand our daffodil flower business, double the size of our arable farming business, (without a further capital call by Delta) and opened our eyes to the benefit of collaboration with membership of Anglia Farmers and Yaregrain co-operative grain storage.

Charles BraceyCharles Bracey

I farm with my brother a 500 acre mixed arable farm in Stalham and was one of the founding Directors of Delta back in 1995, and it is bringing the same benefits to my business now as it did over twenty years ago.

Back in 1995 our single employee decided upon a career change, we could not wholly justify a replacement fulltime employee, and was not able to commit myself to become a fulltime tractor driver because of other business interests I was developing. The choices we faced were to hire contractors on a job by job basis or enter into a farm management agreement both meant losing different amounts of control of the farm.

Delta met all my requirements: supplying labour and increasingly expensive machinery. I was able to retain full control of the arable farm and have the time to build another business. With the passage of time machinery has become far more technologically advanced and expensive. Alone we would never have been able to afford this but Delta has brought all the benefits of modern IT to the farm. We have full control of our fixed costs and the crops grown on the farm. I am looking forward to the next twenty years with Delta.

Alan JonesAlan Jones, Witton Hall Farm

Alan Jones is a Norwich based property developer. Witton Hall Farm was principally bought for its development potential and we were looking for an efficient open book means of farming the land. Delta has been an excellent choice. Being from a non-farming background, the monthly director’s meetings are very constructive and have allowed us to manage the land asset to its full potential.

Alison RitchieAlison Ritchie, Ludham Hall

We are a family farm based at Ludham growing wheat, barley, sugar beet, vining peas and potatoes, with beef  cattle on environmentally  sensitive grazing marshes.

Alongside the main business we have residential lets, holiday lets and storage facilities, and a keen interest in conservation, tree planting and wildlife.

Delta offers the flexibility we need to allow us to concentrate on all areas of the business, with the confidence that operations will be carried out efficiently and professionally.
